In 1976, six staff walked out of Grunwick Movie Processing Laboratory and Manufacturing facility in Willesden. They staged a strike in opposition to their poor working circumstances, demanding the correct to affix a union.
Lower than two years later, these six had been joined by 20,000 supporters in an historic dispute combating for higher rights for poorly handled staff. Predominantly Asian girls, these strikers shattered stereotypes, challenged the institution, introduced a group collectively to help the rights of staff and altered the face of commerce unionism.
On the fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of the Grunwick Strike, Townsend Theatre Productions celebrates their bravery, bringing their inspirational story to a brand new era with We Are The Lions, Mr Supervisor!, an imaginative and trendy manufacturing with songs and music of the time accompanied by an built-in exhibition.
